Dhals are becoming ever more popular with every market segment. Furthermore, the emerging vegan / gluten free space is growing steadily & creates new opportunities & challenges for food operators across NZ. A growing customer base is requiring these options and it is great to capitalise on this trend.
Dhals are lentils (& dried beans) that are cooked with aromatic Indian spices to create a wonderfully versatile & flavourful dish that can be accompanied with breads & a variety of grains.
For centuries, dhals have been an essential part of India’s rich culinary tradition, served at just about every meal. They are yum, nourishing, healthy & protein-rich. The variation in regional dhal dishes is vast and you can make a different dhal each day.
Most importantly, you can now cook authentic dhals in a slow or pressure cooker with Masala King’s range of dhal products – easy peasy!
PREP
Wash lentils or dried beans and place in a slow cooker. Add Masala King Dhal Tarka, water & mix through. Cook till really soft. Dhals can be bulk cooked & refrigerated.
To make an order, simply sauté select veges (capsicum, mushroom, tomato, peas or red onion) and add 150g prep dhal. Serve with a selection of breads / panini / quinoa / couscous/ grilled veges / fresh fruit / avocado / fries – dress and garnish.
